  my finace recently started work at a wage which will take me years to reach even though our qualifications will be about the same.

  many women have claimed that the glass ceiling exists and that women are paid less for the same jobs that men do.. what reasons explain this in your mind?

  is it because women might have children?

  Purple the woman that is mentoring me refers to it as a lexon ceiling since if it were glass she would have kicked it in years ago.

  I believe things will change. One of the problems is some of the perceived strong female politicians are women like Hillary who isn't that likeable regardless of politics. There are many other female politicans that I really admire. But there are changes coming. The lady I work for has proved her worth and is gaining a top salary comparable to any man. But she's the exception still.

  She has taken her bonus money as shares, once more women hold chair posistions I believe things will change even more. I'm confident it will happen.

  After 12 yrs..contacted my old ex-witness pal!!!

  i was at a party on christmas eve, and i met a girl who just happened to be visiting from chicago.

  the subject of religion and common global religious myths came up.

  we talked for a long time about some books we had both read by joseph campbell about the power of myth.

  While I haven't hooked up with an ex-witness I've hooked up with a fading witness who is going to be my maid of honor at my wedding. She is doing a great job of fading and finally facing the fact that she'll get DFed eventually. So I'm going to be part of her new family that will love her regardless.

  We were KH friends as her parents wouldn't allow her to associate with someone like me, a life long refused baptism kind of girl.

  My experience in the work force isn't much so that's why I asked. Eventually I will be a manager and I will need to learn to motivate and direct both sexes. Being close to the bottom right now I can only go up

  Unsolicited Advice

  do you feel compelled to give advice to your friends if you think they are making bad choices?

  if it's not threatening to your friend in a physical way - do you live & let live - even if their choices have the potential to hurt them emotionally at a future time?

  what is the "right thing to do in these situations"?

  It can be difficult to not offer advice but I know I don't appreciate unsolicited advice so I keep my mouth shut and it's hard at times. I have a friend that makes one lousy choice after another. Once I asked her if she'd like some advice from me and she said no, so no means no.

  It's no wonder that the U.S. is one of the most hated countries in the world

  riiiight, many reasons for the US to be hated isn't there? Jealousy, stupidity and let's not forget while you're passing judgement on the US that we'd be more hated if we allowed the horror that was Iraq to exist without going in there.

  These sort of condoned comments makes me wonder why anyone from the US would bother posting here.

  I have no doubt that many women don't earn or deserve respect. The same might be true of men.

  It's not easy for a woman to be in a managerial posistion for many reasons.

  What reasons explain this in your mind? Is it because women might have children? Women put up with it? Women aren't as capable? I'm curious as to the mindset of some of the men and women here.

  I have gotten pretty lucky recently. While attending college in the mornings I've been used as a gopher at a very large corporation. I've been working with various high level managers. These are people who make huge money. One of them has made arrangements with the college for me to work every afternoon and evening as her assistant. I will be receiving some generous college credits towards my diploma and might even be able to graduate early since I've got most of my required courses in already.

  This woman is one of the highest paid females in the business but it has taken her many more years to get there than a man would take and she isn't all that happy about the "good ole boys" club. So I feel very fortunate for her to be taking me under her wing. I'll even be traveling with her to Seattle next week on a business trip.

  She is a driven woman and it's amazing to watch her at work. I have learned more from her in a few days that all my professors added up. She says all the diploma does is prove that a person is trainable and for me to forget everything I've learned in college. It makes sense.

  Thinking about moving to Cincinnati...

  my employers' intranet website recently posted for a position located in cincinnati (which is about a 2 hour drive from columbus, where i live).. the requirements/skills listed on the posting seemed right up my alley, so i submitted my app online.

  today i get an email from the hr lady asking me when i can interview.. i'm so nervous about this!

  i've never lived far from home, and i'm very close with my family, to be honest they're all i've got, i don't have friends or a social circle to speak of.

  Change is good. During the week I live about an hour from my parents but I go home every weekend. When I marry I know I won't see them very often and that's not easy. But it's life.
